Crystalline bright red Realgar deposited along fractures in a soft shale rock.  Realgar is very rare in the UK.  At Dolyhir Realgar is locally abundant in certain beds of rock but was of sporadic occurrence and these have now been quarried away.  This specimen has been kept wrapped up since collecting but even so has started to undergo alteration to orange Pararealgar.  A great location piece.
